I have had the honor to pretty much grow up with most of this family. Penny (in the purple shirt) was my best friend in high school and I am blessed to still count her as one today. Her brothers were meaner than snot to me, but I still love those suckers. They wanted some family pics and I was happy to help. The setting was BEAUTIFUL, but it was getting dark and QUICKLY! So we didn't get to do all I would like to have, but they still turned out. Here are just a few of my favorites.

My best friend since high school had her baby last month. He had been a long time coming! Her oldest is 9 and I have had the honor to walk beside her as they tried for a sibling. Shortly after we found out she was pregnant again, her Daddy (Joe) died in a tragic accident. I remember praying with her in the hospital before we knew anything for sure...directly into her ear...for her only...that this baby would live!

This strapping young man was the book attendant in my wedding. His mom is my husband's cousin but has always been more like a sister to me. This past weekend we were having a little mini family gathering at the mom's house, so we took the opportunity to get a few pics in of her sweet Avery who we are anxiously awaiting the arrival of. We had to improvise a bit, but we made it work!

I have had the honor of knowing these 2 precious people for a few years now. So when they got engaged, we were all thrilled! Since she is from Brazil, they are getting married in Brazil. Part of their culture sends out their invites way earlier than we do. So while this isn't their real "engagement" session, we had to get some very specific pictures (and feel) for their invitations they need to get done this month.

The Smith Family Fun Day

Well...it wasn't technically called that, but I knew before I ever headed over to their house that it would end up being just that!

You see, I've known and loved two of the members of this family for a number of years now. I even had the pleasure of being their wedding photographer. It was at that wedding I quickly realized that apples really do not fall far from trees! So when the bride contacted me to do all of her family, I was more than happy to!

So we started off with some traditional family pictures (since they hadn't had a real family photo since I'm not really allowed to say when).

See? Even sweet Ginger made the picture.

I love this family. The mom is the owner of the small daycare that my littlest one goes to and has watched my kids grow (as well as I have watched hers) since my baby was 6 months old.

As I looked thru their pictures of the session we did this last Saturday, all I could do was giggle and say, "These say Loter more than any picture I've ever seen of them!"

And if you know them, you will most certainly agree!

That was loads of fun, Loter Family! Can't wait to do it again.

Sometimes, it pays to be the photographer's kids! I posted this over on my personal blog too.

Last I knew he still couldn't balance enough to walk.

Last I knew these freckles were cute...not BEAUTIFUL!

Last I knew she had to hold him up when they took pics together.

Last I knew he only had eyes for his Mommy.

Last I knew she did this as an 18 month old but because she was bored with me...not becuase she really had so much on her 8 year old mind.

Last I knew, I was the momma of babies.

These pictures tell me that the "last I knew" is now over...

Tess Turns One!

I have had the sweet pleasure of photographing Baby Tess Here for her newborn pics (man how I would love to redo those now knowing what I know!) and Here for 6 months and now she has turned one year old and I had the pleasure of capturing her again.

Now...Tess has obviously turned into a much more serious toddler than she ever was as a baby. I mean, she wasn't cranky at all...quite the opposite actually. She just didn't want to smile. And that in intself was pretty daggum sweet!

Her kissable lips and icy blue eyes are enough to make you melt!

Aunt Pat's 80th

My husband's Aunt turned 80 this month and I had the privilege of being asked to not only attend, but capture these memories for them. I have now known her for 14 years and couldn't think of any other place I would rather be!

Aunt Pat traveled and lived in many different countries, so they had food made (by her grandchildren) representing the countries. It was phenomenal!

I ADORE this picture! Makes my heart sing.

These are her 3 girls. Her son couldn't make it, but this picture IS THEM so much!

These are Uncle Harold's siblings that could make it to the party.

They brought out a little bitty cake that had EIGHTY candles in it. And then they LIT IT! We were so stinkin scared the alarms were going to go off. But I love that the little boy helping her blow it out is her great-grandson.

I've been DYING to post these forever, but since the wedding was tonight, I finally can!

My first bridal shoot was at the Capitol.

Me and "The Capitol" are no longer friends. The lighting is horrible, but I did learn lots of great lessons.

My Best Friend's Wedding

Yes, it has taken me a month with these pics, but since I have such an emotional connection to all of this, I wound up keeping and editing more pictures than I ever have for one session.

Her son gave her away. This was the first time he saw her before the wedding in her bridal room. It was the most precious thing ever!

Chris chose to have all of the audience choose a flower when they walked in. Then, as she walked down the aisle she gathered her bouquet. And had an opportunity to love on and everyone who was there. (Note: She already had a "first look" with Mark so she could do this)

After the wedding they chose to stay up front and allow everyone to come and visit and love on them right there. It was beautiful!

Sweet Siblings

These sweet siblings are separated by a strange turn of events. A woman in our church adopted the boy out of the foster care system when he was born. The sister came along and is still with the birth mother. Thankfully, they are allowed to all stay in contact so these two sweet siblings can see each other every now and then.

Since Kim had them both this weekend, she asked if I would take their pics and I was honored.

I was asked by a good friend of mine to come and take photos of a family get-together they were having in honor of Mother's Day. In addition, some of the families were going to want family photos.

Plus, they were bringing in some food.

Now, I've done some shoots at this farm in Cabot before and I. Loved. It! I was so excited to be there again. And the folks that live there asked me to even take pics of everything inside and out on the property for insurance purposes.

ABSOLUTELY!

These 2 best friends had to have their pic made together. But I LOVE how drastically different their eyes are!

Oh. My. Word. Eyes! I already fell immediately in love with this young man b'c he kept calling me ma'am and would not let me carry anything! Camera bag? "Let me get that ma'am." My plight-of-a-short-photographer ladder? "You don't need to carry that ma'am."

His wife will thank his parents one day.

Elsinger Engagement

This past Sunday afternoon I had the pleasure...honor to photograph my two favorite lovebirds. You see...this woman...Chris...is one of my best friends. Sure she's a few years my senior, but this woman LOVES me. 100% completely. She would take out anyone who gets in her way to protect me...my heart...my reputation.

Just ask her.

Or better yet, don't!

She has had a time of it all in her past. Many years of a broken and maimed picture of what a husband is intended for.

Until she met Mark.

As you can see, she finally knows what true love is. Just look into her eyes...you'll see it there.

Notice her "key" necklace? That's the key to his heart he had made for her. All together now...AWWWW....

I ADORE this photo! With and without the saying. But our other best friend found this saying and it's so true for them. She IS his princess and he IS her prince.

Valentine's weekend I got to take my first engagement pictures. We had originally planned a beautiful country setting, however, our friendly blizzard here in the south thwarted that.

So, we headed to some great spots in downtown Conway. The results make me happy!

Old Navy Kids Spring Fashion Show

I wasn't originally asked to do this. However, since my kids were in it and the store camera was a little point and shoot, I sorta fell into photographing the entire fashion show so they could send it to their corporate offices.

Basically, our local Old Navy store had their Spring 2010 Fashion Show for kids and my 2 were in it. However, I fell in love with all of these little kids.

Memorable, that's for sure. This group likes to have fun and they just included me right on in with 'em!

They had their Christmas/New Years party on New Year's Day and asked if I would come and take some casual pics of the night. I'm always up for snacks and laughter!

After 3 hours of full on belly laughing, here were just a few shots of the evening.

Ok...In case you haven't noticed, I LOVE doing photography. Seriously, LOVE IT!

However, I must say that this session was perhaps the most fun so far. Simply b'c I got to sit back in the shadows and be me.

And, you know...there was good food!

I was invited to come and be the "photographer" (I still have trouble calling myself that) at a friends 3rd Annually Christmas party that they were having for their ballroom dance group.

SOLD!

She wound up with almost 90 pictures from this so choosing just a few to go here or on Facebook was terribly difficult.

Lots of food...

Tons of laughter...

And see...dancing! This was the couple that did a "showcase" for us first. It was so fun!

THEN we moved on to some Dirty Santa...

Then everyone danced. Seriously, it took everything in me not to get out there and dance myself. However, I think I might have hurt this young man's back in the process.

Having been a part of this family since I was 13 years old gave me a right to get somewhat teary-eyed as I edited this picture. I KNOW this family. Thru their ups and downs, ins and outs. And here they are and all together.

This is Rachel and her doggie, Charlie Brown. Aren't they just beautiful together?

They had warned me that this sweet girl doesn't smile much and to not try to force her. So I didn't. And the results were stunning!

This is Granny and Grandpa's hands. These hands are part of a very special photo that I am only sharing with the family.

Here are those 2 best buddies again. They played and played and I snapped and snapped. It was the most fun.

The grandson is all about skateboarding so we headed to the skateboard park to catch him in his element. I LURVE this photo!

The Rusher Family

I have known this mom thru one of my best girlfriends. She also does photography so when she asked me to take her family photos, I was honored! They have such an amazing testimony of the Lord's faithfulness.

We had planned to do these outside, however, when it dropped to 20 below outside, we opted to do them at her house. We were slightly pressed for time, but I'm still so very tickled with what we got and I hope they are too.

They are just a beautiful family, inside and out!

I couldn't resist sweet Emma's little shoes she was so occupied with.

Abbie is a little spitfire. She and I got along splendidly.

I've decided I love having another photographer to shoot! She had some great ideas and this was one of them.

I don't know why I love this one so much, but I do.

And these 2...aren't they gorgeous together? Whew!

It was wonderful to see you again and a blessing to take your photos.

Sisters, Sisters, There Were Never Such Devoted Sisters!

This weekend I had the pleasure of meeting Sharon's sisters, Michelle and Yvonne.

We met up at the Capitol Hotel (please go rent a room there since they let us do it for free) and even though their holiday decor (and subsequent low lighting to set the mood) posed a challenge for me, we still got some great shots!

Asking these 2 to just chat it up...was like asking the wind to blow. They immediately had plenty to talk and laugh about!

Let me just say...this girl could S-A-N-G! Whew! She sat at this piano and sang "Amazing Grace" and people were stopping to watch.

This cracked me up!

Here I asked them to do something they did as a child and they started doing "Down Down Baby" and got so tickled at each other for messing it up. I got probably 4-5 really good succession shots off of this!

As soon as my camera came up, this girls inner Cindy Crawford busted on out! She would literally move her head, face or eyes as many times as my camera could click.

I had the funnest time Saturday afternoon with the Clayton Family and the sweet little apple of all their eyes, Maddox!

From there, we headed to Maumelle where the sunlight brought out Maddox's deep blue eyes!

The momma in this family works at my son's school and let me just say...both of my kiddos ADORE her! Seriously.

So when she asked me if I could take her family photos when all her kids were in and I said yes, I didn't know what I was in for!

You see, he has 2 and she has 1 and they have 2 plus one nephew plus 2 foster kids. That's EIGHT CHILDREN! Yup! But it sure was a ball o' fun!

Sweet Alexis. Bless her heart, I kept calling her Hailey. Don't ask why. But shortly after this photo was taken, her sweet little self took a nosedive into the fountain.

Remember the maternity shoot I did few months back?

Well, she and her sisters wanted me to do some pics of all of the kiddos together.

Yup, 6 kids. It was most certainly lively! But they turned out so good.

I probably took 80 or so shots of just this pose because I knew that one of them would be looking off or something. I found ONE...this one that was perfect!

Bump Post

While I'm editing away at my sessions from this weekend, I thought I would post this 'bump' post that I posted on my family blog (and FB) earlier this year.

Okay, Okay! Enough Already...

I have been tagged a ga-ga-gillion times to do this over on Facebook and I have kept avoiding it.

Mainly b'c I didn't figure there were 25 interesting things about me.

So I made some up.

All lies.

Just kidding.

Here we go:

1. I feel strange when someone asks me, "How many kids do you have?" Tough question. Technically, I have 6. Only 2 here with me.

2. God is up to something in my life at this very moment. Something powerful. Something that ONLY God can get glory from. Watch out!

3. For the first time in my life, I know what it means to be and to have Biblical friends. I know who my real friends are.

4. I miss the Lovells.

5. I met my Hubs when my head landed in his lap. Quite literally...

6. I am an only child. I had a sister who died at birth who's name was Jennifer.

7. I have an amazing testimony. Just pull up a chair and ask me.

8. My feet have to be pedicured every week. No matter the shoe season. And I'm too cheap to pay for one, so I do it myself. Worth it for some sweet feet!

9. All my life I wanted to be a lawyer. Even in my Senior year of HS, we had gathered all the information to UALR Law School. Then, I chickened out. Still my dream, though. Maybe when my kids are grown I'll go back.

10. If I had the camera of my dreams, I would do professional photography on the side.

11. I want more kids. Don't tell David. Nevermind, he already knows.

12. My name was supposed to have been "Ashley Elizabeth". Funny...that's my sister-in-law's name.

13. My natural hair color is the same as my kids. This is a box, people, but I love it and thank you for loving it with me! But, I get to have it professionally done soon! Can't wait!

14. My biological mother exposed me to just about every religion you could think of. We were Episcopalian, Nazarene, Lutheran, Methodist, and Mormon. I lived on the Mormon ranch for 5 years. After my HS years in the Assembly of God, I now am at Vilonia Baptist Fellowship...where I know beyond anything that God has placed me with his sovereign hand.

15. My daily dream still...I LONG to be an actress. I would love, LOVE, L-O-V-E to work for the Rep or Murray's. And anyone who knows me...well...nevermind.

16. I still use "touch math".

17. For the most part, I have a photographic memory.

18. I was born in Kissimmee, Florida.

19. I have probably been to Walt Disney World 100+ times in my life. But the best times yet have been the times with my kiddos.

20. I don't deserve my Hubs.

21. Every single day I have to cover myself in either lotion or baby oil. I'm delicate.

22. I'm still "Daddy's Girl" in every way. Trust me...that man still spoils me. When he hugs me he will say "Awww...Daddy's Baby!" and I'll return with "Awww....Baby's Daddy!"

23. Joanie is not my biological mom. But to me, she IS my mother, momma, mommy and best friend. And many people would have never guessed it. We have even had folks tell us we look alike (which is wiered b'c I look JUST Like Daddy).

24. I was there the day that the Challenger blew up in the sky. I saw parts hit the ocean.

25. I used to be a "cowgirl". I mean...for years. Authentic hats, jeans, boots...rodeos every single weekend...huge belt buckle. Yeah...

So, there you have it. I'm sure I totally didn't impress you at all, but I can finally get the "tags" off.

And I'm not tagging anyone else b'c THIS WAS HARD, PEOPLE!

The Hankins Family

The other half of my Saturday afternoon session was the Hankins family. I have known them for years and our lives have been intertwined. I have watched these kids grow (and oddly enough taken their directory pictures for years) and become the beautiful kids you see below.

These are our 2 kids. They claim to have been on-again/off-again since Baby Girl was 2. They don't want to talk about it, but they both still blush when you talk abou the other one.

This is perhaps my favorite picture of the shoot. Both girls were 'captured' simply being with Danny Boy the horse and the results were strinking.

The Kemp Family

I had a double family Saturday afternoon at what was quite possibly the funnest place EVER to take photos. It was at the sisters Aunt's ranch in Cabot.

She doesn't know this yet, but I have plans to move in with her.

Anywho, I know the Hankins sister from church and years of friendship. Her sister is the momma in the Kemp family.

And I just love them! I mean, see for yourself. What's not to love?

This was "Dad's" idea and I'm so glad he had it. Just look at 'em!

I could have kissed his face off. And actually, if this picture was in full size, you could see that someone did b'c he has lipstick on one side of his cheek :-)

The Country and Best Friends

She is my best friend from High School. We have been together all these years thru thick and thin and have been with each other as we have raised our families.

As a result, our daughters are best friends. While they don't see each other often at all, they reconnect immediately upon seeing each other!

Just like their mothers do.

So it was my pleasure this weekend to get a session with them.

Capturing them just being them...is what I'm all about! We did get some good 'posed' family pictures, but this is my favorite.

Here are the BFFs. I brought my Baby Girl along for this exact reason. We got many good pics of them together. The City Girl and the Country Girl. (For more of these, you can go to my personal blog here.)

They even brought their puppies along for the trip.

Let's bundle up and get some fun pictures!

Or...I know LOTS of your houses are o' so beautifully decorated for Christmas! So why not do some with your very own decorations?

Or...do you know of some beautiful inside places we could go to? I do!

But if you don't really want any of those options, my Father-in-Law has helped me out and built this frame! It is lightweight and portable. We can set it up anywhere that has enough for this 7'x6.5' frame!

Here it is full size (and after my kids kept running under and around it!) This works for full standing shots or large families that we can scoot in a chair or stool for.

Here it is shortened to accommodate the floor shots.

And see...I told you...PORTABLE!

The B Family

What a fun little family this was! Seriously! When they first got there "B" was a little shy. But as the session wore on he completely came out of his shell.

The Wild Ones

This past weekend I had the pleasure of my first Little League session.

LOTS of learning points during this session! They were tons of fun and the weather was beautiful.

With this session I charged just for each CD and then created one CD per kid with 10 of their own shots and then all of the generic or group stuff.

Beauty in the Simple Things

While I am in the process of processing (funny) yesterday's photos I thought I would put these 2 up. If you have seen any of my stuff that I have taken, I like to find beauty in the simple stuff that is around what ever photo session I'm doing at the time.

And yesterday was no exception.

No, this photo was not in black and white. It was a very 'misty' day out and this was the water pooling on the tin roof. I ADORE this photo!

My First Newborn Session

I have 2 children so I knew going into last Saturday's session...Newborns work on their OWN terms :-) So I came prepared with lots of time to spare just in case.

I had the pleasure of taking photos of this beautiful family. I knew the Momma casually and met her Hubby and beautiful baby girl that morning. The precious girl was OH SO VERY cooperative for about the first hour. I mean, we were all so impressed. But then, we tried for some ideas I had in my head that involved lying down.

This idea had not been run by her and she objected. :-) But that's ok because I still feel we got some beautiful shots.

This one takes my breath! She was mesmerized with my camera and my flash. And when it wasn't my flash, she was busy watching my very own Baby Girl dance and entertain her.

My goal when I started doing this was not just to take some pictures for folks. It was to capture "moments" that convey emotion. This picture does it for me! I absolutely love Momma's smile as she holds her precious girl.

This one CRACKS me up! The way she is cutting her eyes at me makes me laugh so hard that I had to throw it in here as well.

RC's Maternity Session

This sweet girl works at my Baby Boy's daycare. She is due early October, but since things are already progressing, we decided we better quickly get these pics in.

Otherwise the little guy's first session would be when he met me!

These were some of my favorites of the day.

We actually took 2 different sets of these. This one says September 2009 (just in case) and another set says October.

A&C Mother-Daughter Session

I learned a lot during this session.

I learned I want to take every picture imaginable but time doesn't always permit that.

I learned to always carry snacks in the car when you are working with kiddos. (Already had that one under control.)

And I learned I needed to have business cards available for when people ask.

This was for a sweet mother/daughter who are very dear to me and my family. We have been talking a lot over the last few weeks about what she might want compared to some ideas I had rolling around in my head.

And we had a blast, I must say! It was very hard for me to pick from the 300+ pictures I had. Luckily I narrowed them down to 60+, but I still don't know how they will choose.

And choosing what to upload here about killed me! But, here were just some of my favorites.

Look at that face!

This woman just takes my breath. She is so beautiful and her eyes are so piercing!

This was my favorite 'urban' photo/look we were going for. I have tons taken of her with her knees together but as soon as I asked her to angle her knees...magic!

Sweet C is a dancer. You name it, she can do it. So it was only appropriate we threw in some shots with her tiara she won and her tap shoes. We took some other sentimental photographs as well that turned out GREAT!

Yes, I'm still taking pictures. I've been playing around and learning lots of things about my camera. I'm waiting to hear back from Nikkon on one of my lenses then I can charge forward again. I have 4 folks who have asked me to do their pictures, but hopefully we can firm up some dates soon.

Lessons in Lighting

Saturday when some of My Girl's friends came over to play on the Slip 'n' Slide they brought one of Baby Boy's favorite items.

Bubbles.

I just began clicking away at all of the activity since I wasn't trying for huge photographic elements here. As I was looking at what I was taking, I realized I was sitting in my own 'schooling' and learning a very important lesson.

Watch where you sit when taking a picture.

Say, under a tree.

It will create huge shadows and over expose the other elements in the photograph.

See here...Baby Boy's face disappears

At this point, I realized there might be too much shadowing, so I stood up. Better, but still not the photograph I would have been looking for if I was intentionally 'shooting'.

Shifted to one side, and Baby Boy gets darker again. Lesson learned.

To the other side...way too bright.

Walk slightly around him...odd shadows.

His sweet little face almost disappeared!

C's Swim Meet

This weekend I was asked to come and shoot my best friend's grandson's final swim meet.

It was the Cabot Piranhas vs the Sherwood Sharks.

That made me chuckle.

And let me say, when I agreed to go I thought it was just going to be a few kiddos swimming around.

Wrong.

There were 500+/- kiddos there! Seroiusly.

So while my best friend has a CD of 100 or so photos of her precious boy swimming and jumping and breathing and relaying, I selected out my favorites photography-wise to put here.

My best friends haven't had pictures made with the kids since I was pregnant with Luke. So, while I was vacationing to see them, we took the opportunity.
